The Orifice Float Collar is run when a tie back is required. Normally, it is located one or two joints above the Tie Back Assembly. The configuration of the Orifice Float Collar is similar to a Float Collar or Float Shoe assembly. The only difference is an orifice in the aluminum component which allows automatic filling-up of the tie back string while running. Also, it prevents a pressure lock when the tie back assembly stabs into the tie back Polished Bore Receptacle because the displaced fluid is able to flow through the orifice.
